- King Harold's father, the Earl of Godwin was born in Billericay
- Brentwood is home to the widely publicised Secret Nuclear Bunker built to keep
our government safe while the rest of us perished.
- Paul Simon's first UK concert was played in Brentwood's Railway Inn Folk Club
in 1964
- Brentwood was once home to the world-famous Thermos Flask factory
- Thorndon Park's 400 acre site of special scientific interest was first styled
by Capability Brown
- Brentwood was the first place in Britain to manufacture trampolines
- Cliff Richard, Griff Rhys Jones, Noel Edmonds and Douglas Adams all went to school
in Brentwood
- The East India Company used to have an elephant training school in Brentwood
