Can your little chef impress our new head chef with their baking ability….?

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our new head chef – Wayne Baptiste, who brings with him 27 years of cooking experience and knowledge.

After studying at Westminster College, Vincent Square and obtaining a 706 1 & 2 City & Guilds, he then went on to work in some very impressive hotels and Michelin starred restaurants, as well as at The Honourable Society of Lincolns Inn in London, where he was the senior Sous Chef.

Wayne is a real foodie himself and enjoys nothing more than dining out – with Dim sum being one of his favoured cuisines.

There’s nothing typical about this chef though – he prefers the calm and professional approach to running his kitchen over your usual high paced and loud environment!

As we continuously strive for perfection with our meals, be it in our restaurant, at our weddings, with our Bar & Grill or our room service, it is surely then a match made in heaven that our new head chef has Rosettes in his sight – “my aim is to achieve Rosettes for Heseltine’s Restaurant, based on the quality and consistency of the food we serve to our guests” says Wayne.

So here’s a competition for the children – as Wayne loves to get the whole family involved in his cooking, we are looking for any budding young cake makers to see if they can impress our rather accomplished Head Chef with their own baking skills in our competition!

We want to see as many emailed pictures of cakes baked (and any samples that end up our way are welcome too!) and the winner will receive a Three Course Sunday Lunch for a family of four, to include 2 free children’s Mocktails, in our Heseltine’s restaurant so you can experience the delights of Wayne’s cooking for yourselves!!

Below is a cupcake recipe from Wayne – but you can use your own ideas if preferred! (Any cake or recipe will do!) So get baking and get emailing those pictures to me at [email protected] – closing date for entries is 28th August 2014 and our winner will be announced Monday 1st September 2014.

Happy baking!!

To make the buttercream – add all ingredients together and whisk until well combined. You could always add some different food colours to really make them stand out!
