On my schedule, I had been placed to work in the marketing department of the De Rougemont Manor. My first impressions of this were of a common viewpoint. I felt that this would be all about posters and the artistic side of things (which has never overall excited me as I am not the artistic type), and whilst that is very fun and interesting, it is also important to have a deeper, more detailed aspect to what is offered to the hotel.

I must say that after working in that department I have seen just how much work goes into the marketing of the hotel. I was able to help out with the poster checking and physical advertising of upcoming celebrations, like Father’s Day, and I was also able to assist in finding a new company to provide services for the hotel. I can therefore state that I had experienced both what I expected and also what I wanted.

Whilst working in marketing I also felt very at home, and comfortable. The people within this department itself made me feel very welcomed and I was able to be myself. I laughed more than I had in any other department and was still able to maintain a work like mannerism. The atmosphere and the people around you also influence how you feel towards work, and I definitely felt the enthusiasm to work whilst being in this department.

Kind regards
